We want to thank everyone for the continuous love and support you have given us. You have shared your blessings with us, and we are forever thankful. No words could express our thanks and gratitude for your kindess and care for Enoch.
Recently we were approved to receive CCS (California Chidren’s Services) – which is a state program for children with certain diseases or health problems. Through this program, children up to 21 years old can get the health care and services they need.
Enoch’s condition allowed him to qualify for this help, such as his hypertension medication which initially we had to pay out of pocket for – but has since then been approved and covered by the state.
However, some of Enoch’s other needed treatment is still not covered and we are having to pay out of pocket for possibly the rest of his life.
Due to Enoch’s dyphasia, he can no longer drink thin liquids. He is high risk for aspiration and penetation and is unable to swallow safely without a thickener. This required thickener is not covered by insurance. We currently use SimplyThick level 2 (Mildy Thick).
Enoch also requires probiotics twice a day due to his GI issues and to prevent him from losing too much albumin in his stools. Since we are unable to treat his lymphoid hyperplasia due to the treatment involving steroids (which has a negative affect on his blood pressure), it is vital that he takes these. He has persistent diarrhea otherwise. In case you are wondering – yes, they did assume crohn’s and IBS – but it has since then been ruled out. We are still following care by a GI specialist. The probiotics we use is Florastor for Kids.
Enoch will also need medical equipment and supplies that may not be covered by insurance. These are protective gear that will help keep his central line safe from infection. The central line is a direct line to his heart.
